Columbia Heights Community Marketplace 2011 Season

The Columbia Heights Community Marketplace builds and strengthens this Washington, D.C. neighborhood’s culture, community and economy through local, sustainably produced food, entertainment, the arts and community service. It does this by educating and empowering community members, especially youth, to learn about and gain employment in local food, farming, entertainment and community service. The result is a community full of healthy people eating healthful food grown near home and putting their skills to work building a strong, local economy.

You can also use your Food Stamps (SNAP), WIC and Senior vouchers at the market. Food Stamps, WIC and Senior vouchers are DOUBLED, up to $10, every Saturday: FREE money to buy more food.

The Marketplace is held every Saturday (rain or shine) 9 a.m.--2 p.m. at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza, 14th Street and Park Road, NW (across from Giant, Target, and the Tivoli Theater).

PETWORTH COMMUNITY MARKET ANNOUNCES 2011 SEASON

New Hours on Fridays 4 PM to 8 PM - May 20th to September 30th

Petworth, Washington, Dc:   After major success in its inaugural season, the Petworth Community Market (PCM) is pleased to announce plans to return in 2011.  Beginning on Friday, May 20th, PCM will be back with 20 weeks of local farmers and vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, fresh-cut flowers, arts, crafts, and more.

“Last year’s success demonstrated what we all already knew – that the Petworth community holds an untapped demand for retail along the Georgia Avenue Corridor,” said Robert Mandle, a founding Board Member of PCM. “We are excited to announce the new market season with new hours that will better serve our neighbors.”

The 2011 market will open earlier in the season bringing a host of spring vegetables not present at last year’s market.  The market’s hours of operation have been shifted to open at 4 PM and end at 8 PM to better accommodate those returning home from a day’s work.

PCM has also opened registration for farmers, producers, and artists.  If you are interested in becoming a vendor, download the application at www.petworthmarket.org or contact the market at manager@petworthmarket.org or 202-386-0896.
