Minutes of the ANC1A Regular Meeting

held on October 13, 2010 at Tubman Elementary School, D.C.

 

Chairman William Brown called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Commissioners present for meeting were: Lisa Kralovic (1A01), Betty Pair (1A04), William H. Jordan (1A05), William Brown (1A06), Lenwood O. Johnson (1A10), LaKeisha Thomas (1a09) and Sandra Scottland (1A11). Commissioners Calvin Woodland (1A02), Jamie Simcox (1A07), Cliff Valenti (1A08), and Luis A, Morales (1A03) were absent Approximately 20 persons attended the meeting.

 

A quorum was declared and the agenda was approved.

 

Approval of minutes for September meeting were postponed until the next meeting.

 

No Treasurer’s Report was given.

 

Community Comments

 

Approximately 3 members of the audience made community announcements.

 

Presentations

 

Cecilia Jones of the ANC Public Safety Committee & NWCHA made a presentation on public safety.

 

United States Attorney’s Office made a presentation – Roger Kemp and Baretta Francis.

 

Metropolitan Police Department – 3D Substation made a presentation.

 

Official Business

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Johnson and Seconded by Commissioner Brown to send a letter of support to ABRA in support for a Stipulated License, Class “C” for Ma Ma’s Southern Cuisine, 3118 Georgia Avenue.

  • Motion was approved, “unanimously.”

 

A motion was made by Chairman Brown and Seconded by Commissioner Pair to provide a letter of support for the rezoning of 1346 Park Rdl. And 1349 Kenyon St. to R5B for Urban Investment Partners.

  • Motion was approved, “unanimously.”

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Jordan and Seconded by Commissioner Scottland to spend $300 to buy an ad in Development Corporation of Columbia Height’s (DCCH) 25th Anniversary Gala Program.

  • The motion was approved, 5 voting, YES; 0 voting, NO and 1 ABSTENTION.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Brown and Seconded by Commissioner Jordan to provide a grant of $500 to Change Inc. to support a Student & Seniors Connects Program at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza. Grant will support promotion and student supplies give away. Provide a Grant of $500 to We Are Family’s Seniors Holiday Program. Provide a Grant $500 Columbia Heights Village to support community programming related to their bi-annual Game Tournament.

  • Motion was approved, “unanimously.”
